LOLO’S CUBE JUST TURNED 100

Author: MARLEAUX | Files under FASHION

Wow, who knew I would make it this far. It seems like it was just yesterday I created The Cube. But now she’s walking on her own and surpassing all my expectations for her.

You may have noticed that the blog has changed over the last few months. When I first started it was more personal, with me talking about my many shopping trips and good buys. But since my life has gotten more demanding with work and school, my shopping trips have gotten sparse and so has my blogging time. As a result I’ve started doing more red carpet fashion reviews. Now instead of there being big gaps between posting designer alternates and killer shoes, celebrities have been added to the mix. Those blogs take seconds compared to We Love Milly, American Gangster Girl and Burberry For All…, I don’t regret the addition at all. Plus, I now post an average of a post for each weekday.

But all in all, it feels good to have a chunk of Internet that I can call my own. I run this spot and though there are still expectations and deadlines, it’s the one obligation that I love. And I’ve made a ton of blog friends along the way. Thank you all for your support.
BTW, that’s my stupid logo that won’t load…

Must Have Shoes

Author: MARLEAUX | Files under Sexless
Well, it’s raining cats and dogs out here in Los Angeles. And I’m not one of those SoCalers that complains about a little bit of precipitation; I feel that the water is much needed. But the rain just caught a sister by surprise. Like most of my neighbors, I don’t look at the weather reports. Instead I just keep a wool pea coat in the trunk for those less than warm days. Well on Tuesday, I just had to wear my lil suede pointy toed flats, and I just had to wear my favorite pair of beige trousers and I just had to make an emergency run to the pharmacy across the street from my job during the Tuesday afternoon moisture peak. Needless to say, both my pants and my shoes are ruined… So here is my solution.

These lil rain boots will go in my trunk for those just in case rain days. They’re inconspicuous enough to wear with my paints during those wet walks during lunch, and and they’re small enough to through in my suitcase of a purse. I do wish they came in a solid color though. But they’re cheap, so as a SoCaler, the last thing I want to do is invest in a rainboot.

Ok, remember when I first expressed my love for these Choo beauties…

They were released on 12/30 and I just knew they would make a NYE red carpet premier. As predicted:

[popsugar]

I want to hate so bad, but the shoes are very Mariah. Like she says, her favorite shoe is “one with a high stiletto heel” and her favorite designer is “whoever is following that motif…” I aint mad.

And it’s about time to add some items to my Sexless list. Yeah, who needs sex when there’s an abundance of shoes around. Here’s a few that get me all hot and bothered.

First off, in the words of Stacey London, “SHUT UP GUCCI!!!”

Look at that silhouette. Looks like a skyscraper.

Gucci Newton High Heel Bootie, $795.00

Gucci Newton High Heel Bootie, $840.00

For the Jimmy Choo fan:

Jimmy Choo Eliza patent Sandals, $585.00

And for the Louboutin fans:

Button-Web Strappy Sandal, $1,345.00

Badu’s sexxy shoes:

Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Canvas Leopard Pump, $675.00

Just give me some bright red toe nail polish and a full-length mirror, and I’ll watch myself walk all night…

And lastly, I ran into these super high cognac stilettos at DSW:

Stuart Weitzman Patent Pump, $250.00

The price was shaved by over $90.00.

Choo Changed My Mind…

Author: MARLEAUX | Files under Sexless
Ok, I’ve been “over” strappy sandals for some time. Everybody knows that it’s all about the peep toes, boots and booties. But I was perusing Saks and I saw these beauties…

*stares in awe… wipes droll*

These Lance Mirrored Sandals come from Jimmy Choo’s Cruise collection and belong right at the top of my Sexless list. And with the price of $645.00, that’s exactly where they might stay. They’re perfect for all the year end parties, but unfortunately, they’re not available until 12/30… *sigh* It’ll be too late to even ask Santa for these. Why do they tease us this way.

Here are a few more Choo beauties that caught my eye…

League Crêpe De Chine Peep Toe Shoe, $750.00; Luz Mirror Leather Flat Sandal, $495.00; Lorie Patent Leather Sandal, $595.00

And am I the only one in love with this ad. Makes me want to polish my own toe nails for once, while wearing sexxxy pumps and a bikini at a chic hotel…

**I tried to find some alternates at a cheaper price. But anything I found didn’t come close to the mirrored sandals. So we’re going to have to stare in awe until someone gets the hint and “reproduces”.
